Head of School Biography

Head of School Joshua Gettys has served Fort Bend Christian Academy since 2012, leading in multiple roles including Upper School Counselor, Head of Upper School, and Assistant Head of School. Mr. Gettys assumed the position as FBCA Head of School in December 2018.

As Head of School, Mr. Gettys has been instrumental in propelling Fort Bend Christian Academy forward to become nationally known as a premier school in college preparatory Christian education.  He is involved and visible in all aspects of the school to lead, promote and support the spiritual, academic, social and emotional well-being of the students, faculty and staff, and families.  Dr. Jeff Mitchell noted during the school’s recent SAIS Accreditation process, “High praise to Joshua Gettys for masterfully understanding and implementing a true servant leadership approach that has touched the heart and soul of the school and its people.”

“For over thirty-seven years, FBCA has maintained its vision of becoming one of the premier Christian independent schools in the nation, and we continually strive to fulfill our purpose to glorify God with excellence on a daily basis,” Gettys said. “As Head of School, I am committed to fostering a Christ-centered, Pre-K through grade 12 educational program. We will unapologetically continue to challenge our students academically immersed in a Biblical Worldview, to explore and invest in their God-given talents and abilities, and to nurture and disciple them through meaningful relationships. We want our students to have a personal relationship with Jesus, to become more like Him, as they grow older, and to change the world as ambassadors for the Kingdom of God.”

Mr. Gettys currently serves on various leadership teams and committees such as the Board of Directors of the Texas Private School Association.  Further supporting FBCA’s mission and academic and spiritual development and growth, he is involved with numerous organizations such as the Council on Educational Standards and Accountability (CESA), Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), and the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce.

A 2009 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and faithful Carolina Tar Heel alumni, Gettys obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He also holds a Master of Education in Counseling and Development from Winthrop University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Indiana University. Prior to his employment at FBCA, Mr. Gettys served as School Counselor at Briarwood Christian School in Birmingham, Alabama.
