FBCA Artist Wins Top Honor in Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Competition
Each year, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Competition showcases the incredible talent of young artists across Texas. This highly anticipated event celebrates creativity, dedication, and the Western heritage that defines the spirit of the rodeo.
Students from elementary to high school levels put their artistic skills to the test, creating stunning works of art that capture the essence of Western life, from cowboys and rodeo action to serene landscapes and majestic livestock. Through their paintings, drawings, and mixed media pieces, these young artists bring to life the traditions and stories that make Texas culture unique.
We are proud to announce our Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Finalists: Miss Nina Melichar '26, Miss Cierra Spraggon '28, Mr. Stephen Drennon, Miss Ellie Singleton '27, Miss Divine Ogunbameru '27, Mr. Cannon Volf '27, and Miss Mia Galvan '27! Their outstanding artistic achievements have earned them well-deserved recognition in this prestigious competition.
A special congratulations goes to Mr. Trevor Robertson '27, who was selected to represent FBCA at this year's Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Competition Auction. His artwork, "Unbridled Devotion" (18" x 24" x 1.5”), was chosen from over 32,000 submissions, placing him in the top 3%! His work is currently on display at the Hayloft Gallery at NRG Center, where visitors can witness his award-winning talent firsthand. Unbridled Devotion, his magnificent oil painting, sold for an astounding $42,000 at auction and won the Reserve Class Premium Painting prize! We are incredibly proud of his skill and commitment! Winners of the competition earn prestigious awards and scholarships, with top pieces being displayed in the Hayloft Gallery at NRG Center during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Some of the most outstanding works even go on to be auctioned, with proceeds benefiting both the students and the Rodeo’s educational fund.
