Fort Bend Christian Academy senior Anna Benjamin recently earned the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Certified Student Certificate in Business Software Engineering – Section C: Dedicated Programming, marking a significant academic and technical achievement in the field of computer science.

Issued on March 2, 2025, by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), this certification is the result of a rigorous one-day simulation designed to replicate the high-pressure environment of a real-world software engineering team. Under the leadership of HPE Lead Instructor Robert D. McAdams and witnessed by HPE representative Eduardo Bustos, Anna successfully completed Course 001: Deadline Business Software Engineering, demonstrating professional-level programming skills, adaptability, and teamwork.

As a participant in Section C, the dedicated programming team, Anna was responsible for managing coding assignments with little visibility into other teams’ work, reflecting real-world siloed software development structures. Her performance required strong knowledge of Python, APIs, GitHub source control in a multi-user environment, and the development of versioned software design documents—all under strict time constraints.

The simulation spanned a full 8-hour workday and challenged students to:

  • Manage deadlines and shifting priorities

  • Collaborate with dependent teams under siloed responsibilities

  • Adapt to changing roles and business requirements

  • Deliver a minimum viable product by the final build milestone

“Anna’s achievement reflects not only her technical skill but also her ability to collaborate, lead, and adapt in a fast-paced setting,” said Gloria Mathew, FBCA Computer Science Teacher. “Completing this course is a true accomplishment—it simulates what software engineers experience in real business scenarios.”

Earning this certification is not guaranteed by attendance alone. Students must complete all assigned tasks, demonstrate competency under pressure, and effectively contribute to their team’s success throughout the duration of the program.

Anna plans to attend Texas A&M University at Galveston this fall, where she will major in Computer Science.

Fort Bend Christian Academy celebrates Anna’s outstanding accomplishment and looks forward to her continued success as she begins the next chapter in her academic and professional journey.
