Six FBCA Students Selected for Prestigious TUTS Teen Apprentice Program
Rachel Migues

The Fort Bend Christian Academy Theatre Department has exciting news to share — six talented Stagecraft students have been selected for the Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) Teen Apprentice Program!

After a competitive application process that required a technical theatre résumé, samples of their work, and teacher recommendations, these students have earned the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Houston’s professional theatre community.

As part of the program, apprentices will attend monthly workshops and mentorship sessions with theatre professionals at TUTS’s downtown headquarters. They’ll also work behind the scenes at the prestigious Tommy Tune Awards ceremony at the Hobby Center in May, and take part in the production crews for several TUTS shows — including a Broadway touring production later this year.

All six students played key roles in the recent production of Hadestown: Teen Edition, contributing their creativity, skill, and dedication to the success of the show.

Meet Our Apprentices:

  • Rebecca Wijnja – Stage Manager
  • Zac Chen – Crew Chief / Properties Designer

Each of these students has demonstrated outstanding craftsmanship and leadership within FBCA’s Technical Theatre Program, and their selection for this prestigious opportunity is a testament to their own passion as well as the passion and heart put into each student by our dedicated Fine Arts Staff.

CONGRATULATIONS to these outstanding Eagles, and to our incredible theatre staff – Robert Sanders our Director of Fine Arts, and our talented Upper School theatre teachers Sarah Patterson and Lana Thompson. We are excited to see all that the Lord continues to do through you!
