Wait Pools

The Lord has blessed Fort Bend Christian Academy with growing enrollment!

Because we value small class sizes, excellent student-to-teacher ratios, and scheduling flexibility, a predetermined capacity is set for each grade level in our school. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of seats available, qualified applicants are placed in a wait pool.

Wait pools are not prioritized waiting lists. If an opening becomes available, the admissions committee selects the most appropriate candidate. The school reserves the right to give priority consideration to qualified siblings of current students and faculty/staff children.

Applicants must complete the entire application process to be eligible for the wait pool, including: All application forms, recommendation forms, testing, any academic support documentation, all necessary transcript information, and family interview.

For next school year (2023-2024):

We are actively accepting applications for: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, and 11th

We are accepting applications, but have a wait pool for: 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 12th

(Students are normally not considered for admission after the fall semester of 11th grade. Exceptions may be made for students by approval of the Head of Upper School.)

We updated our wait pools on May 10, 2023. We will reevaluate them frequently, at which time we’ll update our website.

Wait Pools Q&A

List of 4 items.

  • How many candidates will the school admit from the wait pool?

While we cannot predict what will happen this year, historically, we have been able to offer admissions to a few candidates from each grade level every year. Wait pools begin once all priority admission seats have been awarded. Qualified students have the opportunity to remain in consideration for the Spring and Rolling Admission dates, should seats become available. When additional seats become available, all wait pool candidates are individually reconsidered for enrollment. Priority is given to children of faculty and staff and siblings of current students.
  • When will we begin offering places to candidates in the wait pool?

While seats may become available at any time throughout the school year, there are some key dates to note in the wait pool process.
    • March 2023: Our current families must notify us of their intent to withdraw by late February. Wait pool families can typically expect to be notified of new openings beginning in March for the upcoming year.
    • April and May 2023: Late spring is when families tend to consider changing jobs and moving out of the area, which generates enrollment openings.
    • June and July 2023: Families begin to move out of the area with job relocations and changes, which generates enrollment openings.
  • When does the wait pool close, and what happens next?

The wait pool officially closes on August 1, 2023, unless a candidate requests to be considered for mid-year admission should an opening become available. Applicants who wish to reapply for the 2024-2025 school year will be eligible to begin the process in October 2023.
  • Do I have to reapply for the next academic year if I am not offered a space for the 2023-2024 school year?

Yes, all families in the wait pool must reapply for the 2024-2025 school year. Families must resubmit their application, retake admissions testing, and submit updated grades and reference forms to reflect the new grade they are applying for in the next year. The application for the 2024-2025 school year will open on October 1, 2023. Families in the wait pool for the 2023-2024 school year are not guaranteed a spot in the next year.
