Eagle Week

We are called to be the hands and feet of Christ. 

Eagle Week is an incredible opportunity for Upper School students to get involved in service ministry in destinations around the world, in the United States and even locally in the Houston area. Eagle Week takes place the week before Spring Break and provides meaningful opportunities to experience what living out Christ’s example. Each student will sign up for one of the trips OR a local service ministry.

More specific details will be distributed as trips are confirmed through registration. Each trip requires that a minimum number of students sign up for that opportunity to launch, and each trip has a group maximum after which no other students can be added to the roster. Students must be current on tuition payments in order to sign up and travel for Eagle Week.

The sign up link will be sent out via email at 6:00 p.m. to each grade level student and their parents on their registration evening. Any registration questions, please email Brittney Ford. Deposits should be made via credit card.

  • Arkansas

    Cost: $1,500
    Deposit: $100
    Ministry Partner: Self-planned
    Chaperones: Nathan Barber and Chris Lee
    Length of Trip: 6 days

    Combine service and adventure together as you serve with local churches in Northwest Arkansas, spend time exploring the Ozark Mountains, and ride the world famous Bentonville mountain bike trail system! The mornings will be spent serving with the Bentonville Church of Christ food pantry, with former FBCA teacher Mrs. Beth Coalson, assisting low income families as well as sprucing up the Green Valley Bible Camp. The afternoons will be filled with adrenaline pumping ebike rides throughout the area with a local guide. All skill levels are welcome, however, experience with mountain biking is a plus. This trip is limited to boys only.
  • Bahamas

    Cost: $2,750

    Length of Trip: March 2-8

    Visit Nassau, Bahamas, where you will work with a local church and school. Specifically, you will spend time working in classrooms, building relationships with students and helping the church with various ministries and projects, all while immersing yourself in the local culture. You also will have time to explore the Bahamas during a free day.
  • Memphis

    Ministry Partner: Praying Pelicans
    Length of Trip: 7 days
    Cost: $1,500

    During the week in Memphis, students will prepare food and serve it at homeless ministries and play with children during after school programs. Partnering with Calvary Rescue (a men's homeless ministry) they may also serve dinner and lead worship at their chapel service. During their off day, students may visit the Memphis Zoo, go to the Civil Rights Museum, and shop & dine along the famous music strip on Bealle Street.
  • Orlando

    Ministry Partner: Joshua Expeditions
    Length of Trip: 5 days
    Cost: $1,875
    Deposit: $100

    Partnering with local ministries in the Orlando area, students will spend the week working at a food pantry, feeding the homeless, and doing light construction work and beautification as needed. They will also spend one day at Disney World. 
  • Costa Rica (Seniors Only!)

    Cost: $2,400

    Chaperones: Lana Thompson, Jennifer Adams, Elyse DeBuck
    Length of Trip: 7 days
    Seniors can take in the beauty of Costa Rica as they zip-line through the rainforest and relax in the natural springs heated by the Arenal Volcano. They will visit the beach and take a memorable catamaran ride with their classmates. This year’s trip includes two full days of service with The Abraham Project, which works to help single women & their children.

  • Israel

    Cost: $3,795

    Length of Trip: 9 days
    There is no substitute for walking the land where Jesus walked. Students will journey to the Holy Land where they will float in the Dead Sea, visit the Western Wall, raft in the Jordan River, enjoy Shabbat dinner, walk down Palm Sunday road, see where David fought Goliath, and climb Masada. The travel curriculum is focused on Christian leadership, while preparing students for a life of Christ-centered leadership.

  • Jamaica: ASL

    Cost: $1,975

    Chaperones: Tony Slate and Tiahna Allmon
    Length of Trip: 7 days
    The FBCA team will return to Jamaica for a trip that focuses on deaf ministry. With an education system that lags behind that of the United States, the Jamaicans are glad for the assistance our students offer. The Deaf school our students serve at uses both ASL and JSL so that communication can be easier.
  • Miami

    Cost: $2,150
    Deposit: $100
    Ministry Partner: Joshua Expeditions
    Chaperones: Graham Traylor and Brittney Ford
    Length of Trip: 5 days
    Serving in a local church, students will design VBS curriculum, evangelize to the local neighborhood and help run an after-school program for children. They will also experience an airboat ride in the Everglades and spend time at one of Miami’s beautiful beaches.

  • Puerto Rico

    Cost: $2,650

    Length of Trip: 6 days
    Students can see the world through the eyes of a child as they serve a local orphanage in Puerto Rico. They will spend the week creating fun-filled activities for the local children and teach them the love of Christ through VBS, dramas, songs, and games. In addition, students will take a catamaran cruise to Icacos Island & snorkel in the Caribbean Ocean!

  • Romania

    Cost: $2,400

    Ministry Partner: Grand Parkway Baptist Church/Self-Planned
    Chaperones: Robert & Sara Sanders
    Length of Trip: 9 days
    Students will travel to the mountains of Timisoara/Susani, Romania and partner with Adina and Ovidiu Patrick (ministry partners of Grand Parkway Baptist Church) for a global ministry opportunity. Ovidiu is the pastor of Revolution Church in the city of Lugoj; Adina is a social worker who heads up the humanitarian aid portion of their ministry. Together they run the House of Joy, an outreach center for their rural area of the country. As students are immersed in Romanian culture, they will use their gifts to prepare and share their testimonies, lead VBS, deliver groceries to local families, and minister to children in orphanages. There will also be a cultural day where students will visit Corvin Castle.
  • San Antonio

    Cost: $500

    Ministry Partner: Arms of Hope/Self-Planned

    Length of Trip: 5 days
    Students will spend the week in San Antonio where they will work alongside Arms of Hope, a charity that works with single-parent families. Students will also have the opportunity to explore local San Antonio sights.
  • Utah

    Cost: $2,100
    Deposit: $100
    Ministry Partner: Joshua Expeditions
    Chaperones: Michelle Curnutte, TBD
    Length of Trip: 5 days
    During this trip, students will have the unique opportunity to come alongside and serve ex-members of the FLDS (Fundamental Church of Latter-Day Saints) religion seeking recovery, healing and a fresh start for their lives. Ministry projects range from serving at a local food bank to helping community members with projects around their homes and possibly hosting community outreach events. In addition, students will also be able to journey through the beautiful landscape that makes up the incomparable Zion National Park.
