Will Scott, Class of '17, was Syracuse’s first freshman to be selected as a broadcaster for ESPN's ACC Network.
FBCA Class of 2017 William Scott had his ESPN debut on its ACC Network! Will was Syracuse’s first freshman to be selected as a broadcaster for ACC Network. He also started his own sports radio show called Southern Hospitality.

The freshman is also responsible for beginning the “XFL to Syracuse” movement and has rallied the entire city, with the goal of Syracuse being one of the chosen cities in the new XFL football league. He has been featured on the City of Syracuse’s ABC channel 9 News, along with many other media outlets across the state of New York.

“Don't let being a freshman hold you back,” Will said. “Work as hard as you can and create your own opportunities. Don't get discouraged at rejections, because everyone gets plenty of those. Use rejections as motivation to just work that much harder. Find something you are passionate about, and go do it.”

William was nominated Freshman of the Year in the Newhouse College of Public Communications, which is ranked #1 in the world for sports journalism/broadcasting and has a 8% acceptance rate. While at FBCA, Will was a core member of the student broadcast team, Eagles on the Air, where he had the opportunity to conduct an exclusive interview with Dwight Howard, Center for the Houston Rockets.

“Being a part of EOTA was the highlight of my high school experience. It afforded me so many fantastic opportunities such as obtaining an internship with WWLS The Sports Animal in Oklahoma City as assistant to the producer, job shadowing sports reporter David Nuno, hosting all of the school’s pep rallies as the emcee, writing weekly articles for College Sports Madness and being hired by the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) to provide commentary for all their state championship events.”
