Meet the New Head of Lower School - Mrs. Stephanie Clayton

After a very extensive global search, FBCA is elated to announce the appointment of Mrs. Stephanie Clayton as Fort Bend Christian Academy’s Head of Lower School.
While there were, as expected, numerous applicants from Texas, across the United States and the globe, a comprehensive and thoughtful interview process, including many school stakeholders – administration, faculty, staff, and parents – identified Mrs. Clayton as the complete and right candidate to lead our Lower School into the future.

Mrs. Clayton comes to FBCA as an experienced lower school teacher and school leader.  She spent the first seven years of her education career as a kindergarten, first grade, and fourth grade teacher and team leader in the Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD). It was during that time when she was honored as Rookie Teacher of the Year (2012), District Teacher of the Year (2017), and a finalist for Innovative Teacher of the Year (2017). For the past three years, Mrs. Clayton has served as the Assistant Principal at Arizona Fleming Elementary, where she excelled in cultivating and maintaining a positive culture and environment for students, staff, parents and the community. Mrs. Clayton is a certified teacher and school leader, who holds a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin University and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston-Victoria.  Mrs. Clayton is a well respected member of Fort Bend County and active member of River Pointe Church, where her husband, Terrace, is a Pastor.

“I am so excited to be a part of a Christian, premier school, like Fort Bend Christian Academy, which has such a rich legacy in the community, and I believe that I have the skill set to make a positive impact here,” Clayton said. “Leading during a pandemic has taken me out of my comfort zone and taught me the importance of relationships and connection.  Relationships are at the core of everything I do, and I look forward to building many genuine relationships at FBCA.”

"I am deeply grateful to each person who participated in this process, for his or her time, discernment, and commitment to the future of FBCA.  I strongly believe that Mrs. Clayton will be a highly relational and influential Christian leader in this important role at FBCA," said Head of School, Joshua Gettys.  "She is well-versed in curricular and instructional best practices and understands the significance of Christian Education in the lives of our students.  Of the characteristics that impressed me most about Mrs. Clayton are her love for God, strong commitment to service, genuineness, and her educational competency and instructional leadership."

Mrs. Clayton will start as Head of Lower School in July, and we are very excited to welcome her to the FBCA family.
