Varsity Volleyball TAPPS 5A State Runner Up

Renie Deanda
The FBCA Varsity Volleyball team had another monumental season by making it all the way to the State Championship game for the second year in a row!
As the 2021 TAPPS 5A State Champions, the team had high hopes for a repeat year, but came up a bit short in a hard fought, competitive game.

Last Thursday, November 10, the team defeated Lutheran South Academy in the State Semi-Finals 3-1 to earn the opportunity to play in the State Championship game (for the second year in a row) on Friday, November 11.  The team faced off with Liberty Christian in a great game, but fell short to bringing home the title. Overall, the team had a great season, finished with a 29-7 record, and are the TAPPS 5A State Runner Up. We are proud of all their hard work, and know that there will be many more State Championship runs in this young team's future!

“I am so proud of the work this team put in, they trusted our process and gave us all they had! Everyone of these young women finished stronger as athletes, and as people who can go out and compete in all areas of their lives, and do it with dignity, class and faith," Coach Tommy Sustala said.  "I am beyond proud to be their coach!”

The team had four girls make the TAPPS 5A All State Tournament Team, and seven girls make the All-District team.
