Whitney Childs was named the Fort Bend Christian Academy Class of 2023 Valedictorian.
Whitney Childs has attended FBCA for 6 years since the seventh grade and has been a member of a wide variety of school organizations, including the Science National Honor Society (president 12th/member 11th/12th), Sewing Club (founder and president 10th-12th/member 10th-12th), Multicultural Club (president 11th/member 9th-12th), National English Honor Society (secretary 12th/member 11th/12th), Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society (chaplain and treasurer 12th/member 10th-12th), Medical Club (historian 11th/member 10th-12th), International Thespian Society (chaplain 12th/member 11th/12th), National Honor Society (member 11th/12th), National Computer Science Honor Society (member 12th), Rho Kappa History Honor Society (member 11th/12th), Environmental Club (member 11th/12th), Interact Club (member 10th-12th), Servant Leadership Academy (member 10th-12th), Student Council (member 9th-11th), Big Sister Club (member 11th/12th), and Upper School Girls’ Bible Study (member 9th-11th). Childs was also a four-year member of the varsity swim team (co-captain 12th, member 9th-12th) and the FBCA theater program (11th-12th; two musicals).
Childs has earned recognition for her outstanding performance in her various activities. She was awarded for being an AP Scholar with Distinction, Outstanding Honors Chemistry Award, Outstanding Spanish III Award, Outstanding World Religions Award, Outstanding AP Chemistry Award, and Outstanding Honors Pre-Calculus Award. She was also awarded $617,000 in merit scholarships from the colleges she applied to.
In Athletics, Childs also found much success in the pool. She is a 5-time TAPPS swimming individual state medalist (3 silver, 2 bronze), 100 backstroke FBCA school record holder, 3-time FBCA varsity swimming female MVP, 3-time TAPPS second team all state, 3-time TAPPS Academic All-State Award, and a 2-time VYPE Houston female swimmer of the year nominee.
As part of Eagle Week, a service opportunity each spring in the upper school at FBCA, Childs has served her local community as well across the United States. She went to San Antonio as a freshman to assist at Arms of Hope, Alaska her junior year, and Costa Rica as a senior.
Her favorite FBCA memories include the State Swim meets and winning the Outstanding Production award with Godspell at the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta.
After obtaining a degree in Biomedical Engineering and Mathematics from Vanderbilt University, she would like to design and create medical machinery to help those with disabilities.
Whitney Childs is the daughter of Jody and Matthew Childs.

Jackson Champion was named the Fort Bend Christian Academy Class of 2023 Salutatorian.
Champion has attended Fort Bend Christian Academy (FBCA) for 6 years and has been a member of a wide variety of school organizations, including Eagles on the Air, National Honor Society, Science National Honors Society, Medical Club, Cross Country, Track, and Basketball. Champion was awarded the Art Student of the Year in 2022.
As part of Eagle Week, a service opportunity each spring in the Upper School at FBCA, Champion has served in Cherokee, North Carolina his freshman year, Florida Keys his junior year, and Costa Rica his senior year.
His favorite memories from his time at FBCA was broadcasting the Dallas Christian game for Eagles on the Air in Dallas and spending time with his senior class in Costa Rica during Eagle Week.
After obtaining a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University, he plans to go on to medical school and become an Orthopedic Surgeon.
Jackson Champion is the son of Paolo and Tami Champion.
