FBCA Honors Veterans at Annual Veterans Day Programs

Renie Deanda
Students and staff at FBCA spent Thursday morning honoring those who have served, including some of their own. Each Division had a program that involved student performances and presentations for parents and family members, and they gathered to thank veterans and those who are currently serving, for their sacrifices.
In Lower School, each grade level sang a patriotic song, while some students presented information between the medley.  The Kempner HS JROTC presented the colours, and FBCA Junior, Wilson Whiles, performed “Taps.”  The speaker was Brigadier General Amos P. Parker Jr., Retired Reserves, FBCA’s Director of Advancement Chandler MacDonald’s father, who spoke about the importance of serving your country and what it meant to him to serve our country.

In Middle School, each House presented one piece of the program, whether it was the History of the Veterans Day, a salute to each branch and performances by members of the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade choirs. The speaker was Sergeant Mari Sandvick USMC, who is also a First Grade Teacher at FBCA. Sandvick spoke to the middle school students about the importance of Veterans Day and the sacrifices service members and their families make.

In Upper School, the students sang patriotic songs, shared a video that showed gratitude to our veterans, and more.  The speaker was Brigadier General Amos P. Parker Jr., Retired Reserves, who also spoke at the Lower School program.

FBCA would like to thank all Veterans for their service and honor them for their sacrifice. Thank you to Brigadier General Parker and Sergeant Sandvick for sharing your knowledge and insight with our students and staff.
